Why Dubrovnik?
We both love traveling and felt the only way to significantly be in
our element was to share our joy of traveling with all of our friends
and family. Dubrovnik met that requirement as most of our friends
+ family had yet to travel there. We knew how beautiful the city was
and as soon as we met Nina Bos, our wedding planner, we felt completely
comfortable with trusting her to make a beautiful day.
What were your feelings the morning of the wedding?
Quite anxious, but knew that Nina had everything under control. We
took a 7 day cruise around Italy, Greece and Croatia on board the
Costa Fortuna and on the day of the wedding we were told we would
be the first to be let off the cruise ship and ended up being almost
last. We were somewhat apprehensive, as we were informed incorrectly
of where the cruise ship would dock in Dubrovnik; however, we never
doubted that Nina would not be there. Sure enough she had made contacts
prior to our arrival and double checked our confirmation with the
ports in Dubrovnik. She never let us down! My husband and I are so
grateful and delighted that we met such a wonderful person in such
a beautiful city; making it such an amazing, once in a lifetime experience!!
We still look at the pictures and cannot believe how lucky we were!!!!
Did you have a wedding theme / colour theme?
We knew that we liked apple green and brown and when Nina asked me
to sum up in one word the wedding I said 'Modern.' We had met with
Nina a couple months prior and she sat down with us for five hours….where
she mapped out my expressions from my reactions from a few idea books
she has. By the end of our visit, she said… I know EXACTLY what you
want. And what's crazy is she did! Everything from the covered area
where we said our vows, to the flowers and the unique feel of Dubrovnik!
We mentioned to Nina that we wanted to feel like we were from Dubrovnik,
and give our guests a taste of something very 'authentic' since we
were only there for a little over 4 hours. Her suggestion of the Klapas
[traditional Dubrovnik singers/musicians], was perfect as our guests
were escorted by the Klapas to the wedding ceremony and then were
playing upon our arrival at the reception after a traditional Croatian
walk through the old city center. It was amazing! We were made to
feel like movie stars as people cheered and sent their best wishes.
Nina's suggestion of Gils lounge bar was perfect for our modern taste.
She really did take the time to get to know us and really found a
fantastic way to tell our story….making it the best day of our lives
Was planning a wedding abroad more complicated than planning
a wedding at home?
No way. I can not tell you how easy planning the wedding was. I think
the first step for the bride is to fully trust her wedding planner.
We felt so comfortable with Nina, we both said it felt like we'd known
each other for sometime. But it was amazing how in tune she was with
what we wanted. Also, with a backdrop like Dubrovnik, there's really
no way to mess anything up.
What was the feedback you received on your wedding?
Everyone of our guests said they loved how unique it was. They said
they felt that they had witnessed something very special, and Tyrone's
father gave a speech, saying how beautiful and unique and different
the wedding was and how grateful he was able to be apart of it. Everyone
said it fit our personalities perfectly, which is EXACTLY what we
wanted. Something unique, daring, modern and yet FUN!
Did you go over your planned budget?
No.
Do you think you would have spent more or less if you were
to organise a wedding at home?
Most definitely would have spent more money on organizing a wedding
at home. They say the average cost of a wedding in America is $25,000.
We didn't even come close to that, and I think because it was away,
I didn't sweat the small stuff, and just trusted Nina to do her magic.

Nina made the wedding from start to finish, everything we had ever dreamed of and more. She was patient, listened and above all on the day of the wedding, seemed to be omnipresent. From the day we met her, she made us not worry, as she had it completely under control. She even set my expectations low for the wedding cake…she said would you rather have a cake that looks pretty, or that tastes delicious. We said tastes delicious!!! And the cake was gorgeous! Every detail was thought out and coordinated…even the napkins and she and her ladies dresses. Beautiful!!! It was AMAZING!!! Nina was the absolute best! She is an absolute delight to be around. We appreciate her dearly. Her ability to understand exactly what we wanted was priceless and her ability to pull off a completely flawless day was impeccable. Her wisdom and acute sense of style and detail made her an invaluable resource. Simply put we had 3 criteria and all were met with Nina's personal style and passion for making our story come together. She exceeded ALL our expectations!
