Lopud is a green island with no traffic and sandy beaches, time seems to be standing still in this picturesque little place. The main villages stretches along the bay with a long boulevard which invites for seaside walks. Several bars and restaurants can be found along it's boulevard, along with ruins of an ancient chapel, a botanical garden and of course few hotels and bed and breakfasts.
Lopud will naturally invite you to stroll along the island, venture your way up the highest hill (only approximately 210 meters high) where you can find ancient ruins, the view from here is just stunning. When the weather is clear you can see Dubrovnik from here.
Lopud has a stunning Franciscan Monastery welcoming you as you arrive by boat. The church is located at the sea slightly higher up, but still within walking distance of all the hotels and private accommodation options on the island.
If you want to have a beach wedding ceremony on the island, the ideal period to have a wedding in the shoulder season because the beaches are less busy. Plan for an April, May or late September beginning October wedding.
Weddings can be organized for the very small elopement weddings
up to 50 guests on the island. For your own comfort, we advise you
to book a your accommodation on the island if you decide to have your wedding dinner there.
Wedding ceremonies on Lopud island can perfectly be combined with wedding dinners in Dubrovnik or vice versa.
Lopud island weddings ideally take place in the early afternoon, any time between 13.00h and 16.00h. Lopud has several wedding ceremony locations: the Franciscan Monastery located in the bay, the Botanical garden, the beach and the ruins of an old castle high up the hill. The island covers an area of about five square kilometers so it is quite easy to get around the island in a few days. There is only one village called Lopud which is the center of the Island's tourist industry, all the restaurants, cafes and hotels are here. The inner part of the island is area with a large valley growing olives, vine yards, oranges and lemons. Beside tourism and agriculture, local people are also involved in fishing industry.

Monuments and Nature
* During the golden age of the Republic of Dubrovnik, rich shipowners built their summer residences here, still several stylish villa's remain which are now often family run hotels.
* During that period there were 30 churches on this mini island, many of which are now in ruins and make for interesting wandering spots to see.
* One side of the island has the Sunj beach, which is a shallow beach, located in an idyllic bay. One side of it is kept for naturist lovers.
* Lopud has a well planted park bordered by stone balustrades with stone lions protecting it.
* Lopud together with the island of Kolocep are one of the very few places in the South of Dalmatia where you can find sandy beaches.
