Lokrum is one of the most attractive little islands
near to Dubrovnik. The combination of large pine woods, exotic subtropical
plants in the botanical garden, shaded walking paths, beautiful
bays and peacocks in the wild make you want to see this island.
In the middle of the island is a Benedictine Monastery from the
12th century, which is gratefully used for many wedding images.
Wedding ceremonies can take place in the palm garden
which is bordered by the sea on the island. This garden has some
old stone features and is located behind the monastery. Welcome
shade is provided by the present greenery.
The ideal period to have a wedding on the island of Lokrum is springtime
as of April. You can expect to see the island at it's best then
with blooming flowers and lush green grass. Later on the season,
as of mid July, the warm weather has left it's marks on the plants
making them rather dry and brown.
A wedding ceremony in a nature reserve which at the
same time is one of the most precious little islands of Croatia...
one could think it is a holywood screen play.
Weddings can be organized for the very small elopement weddings
up to 50 guests on the island. For your own comfort, we advise you
to book a private boat (not really needed for elopements). If you
do, we can easily organise the bride to reach the island last so
that none of the guests see her prior to the ceremony. After the
ceremony and pictures are taken on the island we can have a panoramic
boat cruise sailing along the city walls, which is a spectacular
sight to see.
Lokrum island weddings ideally take place in the afternoon, any time between 13.00h and 16.00h is good if you want to include a champagne boat cruise after the ceremony.
At some of the dinner venues we can dock directly by boat, ask us for further details.
